Thames Walls - I.
Algae and mud on jute.
220 x 120 cm.
Coming from the Mediterranean, a place where tides are almost unnoticeable, I found myself fascinated by the Thames’ movements and strength when working in a show for Estuary 2021 Associated Programme.
For this show I studied the human interventions along the river focusing on the limitations we have put throughout it. These paintings are the result of an exploration of the opposing forces of the human constructed walls trying to stop water and the river claiming space.
