My practice is about - and inspired by - the sublime, which I see as the overwhelming quality of nature and our relation to it. Working on this subject in the urban landscape of London, I realized how construction materials are probably the most significant disconnection between nature and me. Furthermore, living at this time of climate emergency, I feel an urgency to create art consistent with my concerns for the future of the planet: I use construction site materials to make art about nature; I transform discarded building materials into art that questions the problems of our economy in relation to the environment.
